Signals that You Have a Bad Real Estate Agent

October 27th, 2011

It is worth noting that the Real Estate Industry has now turned into an area of interest for many investors. As a sales industry, you don’t need to be that ‘educated’ if you want to join the crowd of real estate agents. However, some state require just 90 hours of education. This would help in handling the most expensive financial transactions most people ever have and to do business with contracts and legal issues.

Only the good agents can actually make it even though almost anyone can get a real estate license. And since, real estate agents rely on full commission sales, over time, the bad ones are usually weeded out because they can’t actually make a living selling real estate. Here are four inductors you have a bad real estate agent:

1. He is a real estate and what? – How can a real estate agent going to help you out if he has another job? He can’t serve two masters at a time. He will either do the other one and leave the other one. If they can’t, with very low overhead, then why should you trust them to sell your house? Likewise, how available will they be to answer a client’s questions, or show your house if they have another job.”

2. Your Realtor Doesn’t Understand Basic Economics – The reality is that in most real estate markets, home prices are still going down, and there is a huge surplus of real estate inventory. Real Estate agents who allow listings to be overpriced are just doing a disservice to their clients and themselves. Real Estate agents need to understand the realities of the market, and explain the facts to their clients.

3. Your Property Listing contains Bad Photos – The saying a picture is worth a thousand words is so true on real estate market. With so many listings out there, the online listings need to sell a property if it is going to get shown. So your real estate agent must know that he needs to post pictures that showcases the good points of your house.

4. You Can’t Get Hold of Your Agent – Communication is by far one of the most important attributes good real estate agents possess. They need to be able to communicate readily and be available. If real estate agents don’t answer calls, or quickly respond to emails, they are missing out on opportunities to sell your home. Real Estate agents also need to be able to communicate feedback, both good news as well as bad news.
